Thank you for your support for public green spaces. As you know, parks and greenways plays a critical role in the County's economic development and quality of life. They contribute to clean air and water, connect people to nature, improve physical and mental health, and build stronger neighborhoods by creating community and offering alternative transportation.

However, as you are aware, to continue to thrive and attract people and business, Charlotte needs to continue investing in parks, greenways, and the preservation and expansion of the existing tree canopy.

Many of our greenways are a part of and are critical to advancing the Carolina Thread Trail, a planned 1,600-mile regional network that will connect us to surrounding counties.

Thank you for supporting and providing access to nature for all.

Thank you!

This long-term strategic urban forest master plan is a logical next step for Charlotte, following an early development of a tree protection ordinance, appointment of a city tree advisory committee, the city council's 2011 adoption of a 50% canopy goal by 2050, and formation of TreesCharlotte in 2012.
